I know this is ridiculously late, but I got ridiculously lazy. I know it's technically Father's Day weekend but my friend wished me a happy dual parenting day and I fucking loved that 💪🏻 We did father's day with my dad on the Saturday as he didn't realise it was fathers day and made plans … Continue reading 15th – 16th June: Dual Parenting Day
Very, very, very belated blogging here. I toyed with the idea of forgetting the whole diary section of my blog and waiting till I'm having a bad day and just going waaaaahhhhh fuck my life / oh and here is a charity shop buy. But then I remembered I had some cute Eureka photos I … Continue reading 14th June: Woah! We’re going to Eureka. Woah! Get to West Yorkshire 🎼
I was feeling shitty last night and messaging a friend having a right old whinge. She suggested Emily and I come to York early and have tea and chat at hers before we wander into the city to meet one of our other single mum friends to follow the Pride march onto the racecourse. We … Continue reading 8th June: York Pride
I haven't been to baby cinema since I got dumped so I was definitely making sure I saw Aladdin at Everyman York. We got the train from Sherburn as its only £5 and arrived early at the cinema, here we are waiting for the screen to open Although it was busy we had a sofa … Continue reading 4th June: A naughty day of treats in York
My sister was there to mind the baby so I got the luxury of a solo bathroom time to shower. Then my Dad came over and we all wandered over to Berts Barrow for coffee and cake in the barn / shed. My sister did the babywearing which gave my poor tired body a break, … Continue reading 26th May: A PROPER good Sunday
It was a lovely day, sunny, hanging with single mama friends. Lots of gorgeous little ones having loads of fun together. Baby animals. Emily had her first sand experience (taste). I got an ice cream and dipped it in my coffee (try it). Just all round good stuff. Photo essay below:
Cars are bastards. You look after them and love them and use them as cribs to gently lull your precious one to sleep and then the bastards get to 100k miles and demand a new cambelt. Bastards. They don't care that you're on the last portion of maternity leave with ZERO income and your husband … Continue reading 21st May: Armouring myself for a food tour of Leeds
Sundays are for spending time with family. Smug married couples like to go out together, smiling from all the daily sex they have and hot cups of tea brought to them in bed by their spouse. They probably drink the tea from solid gold cups because they live in dual income households and are therefore … Continue reading 19th May: Hanging in my ‘hood
So it was my almost ex's almost birthday and I suggested we go out for lunch so that he could see the baby. Aren't I a good samaritan 👼 We went to Reds True Barbecue in Leeds and ordered a ridiculous quantity of food. I had mac and cheese balls to start (nice but I … Continue reading 14th May: A cheeky biscuit thief
So I'm in mixed minds about all this charity shopping. Part of me thinks that stocking up on cheap clothes before I need them saves me lots of money as if I wait until I NEED something I'll probably not find it and have to pay more on the high street. But even if it's … Continue reading A Haxby Haul
It feels quite appropriate to have rain on a Bank Holiday Monday. Very British. We had no buddies today and didn't want to be bored at home all day so set off for Fairburn Ings. It is an RSPB reserve but I'm a cheapo and didn't want to pay for parking when we weren't staying … Continue reading 6th May: Rainy Monday
Another day in York so obviously I made sure to have my phone with me. I've been feeling a bit down this week and was due to meet a friend, when she messaged me mirroring a few things I was thinking I thought sod it...let's use my afternoon tea vouchers and have a treat. Carpe … Continue reading 3rd May: Bloody LOADS of photos
My phone cable conspired against me yesterday and wasn't plugged in properly overnight. When I set off in the morning I had less than 10% battery 😱 Luckily I was on time and found my friends at the train station as planned so didn't really need it. And it meant I didn't have the opportunity … Continue reading 2nd May: No bloody photos
Sounds like a shit cocktail, it wasn’t. We just dressed for the cold and then got way too hot. Stupid England. Click for more on our afternoon in Knaresborough
Today I'm trying to focus on all the advantages of being single and make the most out of my maternity leave. The daily diaries are really driving home how I don't have much time left and when I'm back at work (and Emily is probably walking around) I probably won't bother with museum days out.I've … Continue reading 24th April: Haworth with my Honeybear
* edit - I posted this title and then realised it sounds like a bit of a sex toy blog. It's not that exciting. Just me hanging out in York * (...click on the title to read more about my day of POSITIVITY)
Ah Pontefract, the land of licorice, Haribo, drunken lunchtime singing, beauty queens and little old ladies. Click on the title for my brief adventures in this little Yorkshire gem.
Once we were in there was high drama, every part of the outfit was coated. She also slid and crawled her way around the changing table so that it was a naked slippery yellow disaster zone.
I woke up determined not to wallow in self pity in what could potentially be a thoroughly shitty day.
